New York-A natural gas surplus is leading Pioneer Natural Resources to make cuts in capital spending and rig deployment, compan officials said November 5 on a third quarter earnings call. "To me, there's too much gas in the system," Pioneer CEO and Chairman Scott Sheffield told analysts. "Hopefully we'll see more rigs drop" out of operation, he said, adding that "all gas plays are being affected in terms of the differential."
