摘要

Washington-The US Energy Information Administration has cut its 2008 estimate for petroleum fuels demand for the ninth straight month, while also lowering demand for oil, as the US falls into a recession and Americans sharply curtail their driving after record prices this summer. "The increasing likelihood of a prolonged global economic downturn continues to dominate market perceptions, putting downward pressure on oil prices," the EIA said December 9 in its monthly Short-Term Energy Outlook. "The current global economic slowdown is now projected to be more severe and longer than in last month's Outlook, leading to further reductions of global energy demand and additional declines in crude oil and other energy prices."
