Petrobras sees record second quarter profit

Rio de Janeiro—Brazil’s state-controlled oil company Petrobras said August 11 its second quarter net profit rose 29% to a record of Real8.78 billion (5.39 billion), up 29% from Real6.80 billion in the same quarter of 2007, on soaring crude prices and a recent hike in Brazil’s gasoline and diesel fuel prices that lifted Petrobras revenues.
