Canada mandates oil sands carbon capture

Vancouver—The Canadian government has given priority to reducing greenhouse gas emissions from the Alberta oil sands by ordering plants that start production after 2011 to develop carbon capture and storage (CCS) plans for the bulk of their emissions to take effect in 2018.
