Mittal puts India joint venture refinery project on hold: report

Singapore-Mittal Energy Investments, a company which is part of steel tycoon Lak-shmi Mittal's group, has decided to put on hold its proposed investment in a refinery project with state-run Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited and other partners, Indian media reported November 28, citing the head of HPCL. HPCL, state gas utility GAIL, upstream minnow OIL, Mittal and French oil giant Total inked a memorandum of understanding in October 2007 to conduct a feasibility study on setting up a refinery and petrochemical complex at Visakhapatnam or Vizag in southern India.
