Iraq to form E&P company to develop Meisan fields

Baghdad-Iraq plans to set up a new company to handle exploration and development of the giant oil fields of the southern province of Meisan, Assim Jihad, spokesman at the Iraqi Oil Ministry, said late November 16. "The new company will be responsible for extracting [oil] and increasing production," Jihad said. The ministry also is looking at the possibility of setting up companies in other oil-rich provinces of Iraq.
