House lawmakers make push for liigher fuel economy

A bipartisan group of US House members July 21 asked the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to"significantly increase fuel economy standards in its upcoming rulemaking process."The request by the 19 Republican and 18 Democratic lawmakers,made in a ietter to NHTSA administrator Jeffrey Runge,was sent in anticipation of NHTSA's upcoming proposal to restructure the way Gorporate Average Fuel Economy standards are calculated.
