Hong Kong-Guangzhou city in southern China's Guangdong province is facing an acute gasoline shortage at retail outlets despite the recent hike in domestic prices,which should have prompted refiners to increase supply."There is a long queue of vehicles outside petrol pumps and some retailers have resorted to rationing gasoline distribution to each vehicle," a local retailer said.A source at state-owned refiner PetroChi-na said local independent refiners were probably finding the recent government-regulated price hike insufficient amid soaring crude prices and were holding back supply.
