ADM sees 1-1.5 billion gallon ethanol glut

New York-Ethanol giant Archer Daniels Midland sees a 1 billion to 1.5 billion gallon ethanol glut in the US market, and more ethanol plants need to be idled or shut down to "balance" supply with demand, an ADM official said May 5. "Our [Columbus, Nebraska] plant will add to the oversupply but there are some plants still being shut down-the inefficient ones," John Rice, ADM executive vice president of commercial and production, said in a conference call. He did not identify the "inefficient" plants.
