The crystal structure and the superconducting and ferromagnetic properties of Ru1-xMxSr Sm1.4Ce0.6Cu2O10 (M = Nb, Rh and Cu) polycrystalline samples were investigated. For the whole range of Nb substitution, x = 0-1, all samples were found to be superconducting with T-c((onset)) = 20-47 K and T-c(R=0) = 10-32 K. In contrast, Rh and Cu substitutions drastically suppress superconductivity. The increase of H-c1 with increasing Nb concentration suggests that the correlation between superconductivity and ferromagnetism exists in Ru1222. From the results of high-temperature phase analysis, the decomposition is found to occur at T-m = 1129 degrees C, where RuSr2GdOx and (Gd,Ce)O-y and (Sr,Gd,Cu)O-z are incongruently formed.
