USPTO Grants Patent to Anellotech For Process to Make Intermediates

Pearl River—The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has granted Anellotech patent number 9,249,080, which describes "a catalytic process for converting non-food biomass into a wide range of intermediates for the chemical industry." Specifically, the process is for the production of intermediates such as paraxylene, terephthalic acid, styrene, cumene and adipic acid that are used at large-scale for the production of polymers.
