Borouge 3 Project Successfully Completed Following Start-Up of New XLPE Facility

Ruwais— Borouge, a joint venture of Borealis and Abu Dhabi National Oil Co., recently completed its Borouge 3 expansion project with the start-up of a new cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) facility in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (PCN, 17 Aug 2015, p 3). The project, which has more than doubled Borouge's polyolefins capacity to 4.5-million t/y, included two Borstar enhanced PE plants with a combined capacity of 1.08-million t/y, a 350,000-t/y low-density PE plant and two Borstar enhanced polypropylene facilities with a total capacity of 960,000 t/y.
