Better Clean Energy Selects Technology From Honeywell UOP for MTO Plant

Beijing—Chinese firm Better Clean Energy has selected Honeywell UOP's methanol-to-olefins (MTO) process for a new 300,000-t/y ethylene and propylene facility in Shandong Province in Eastern China. The MTO process combines the UOP/Hydro MTO process and the Total/UOP olefin cracking process to convert methanol from non-crude oil sources such as coal and natural gas into ethylene and propylene. The facility is expected to start up in 2016.
