Evonik Expands Polyamide 12 in Marl; Future Polvamide Boosts Anticipated

Marl—Evonik Industries has completed a 5,000-t/y expansion of its Vestamid polyamide 12 production capacity at its Marl, Germany, facility, and has started preparations for increasing its production of Vestosint polyamide powder (PCN, 12 Dec 2011, p 2). In anticipation of further expansion, the company has developed an improved conventional process for producing polyamide 12, and has made "significant progress" in developing a butadiene-free and cyclododecatriene-free route.
