KPC Takes Total as Third PartnerIn Refinery & PC JV with Sinopec

Zhanjiang-Kuwai Petroleum Corp.'s (KPC) wholly-owned Kuwait Petroleun International and Petrochemicals Industries Co. subsidiar ies have signed a memorandum of understanding with Total for Total's planned participation in the Zhanjiang, China, refinery and petrochemical joint venture between Kl'C and Sinopec (PCN, 30 Jan 2012, p 3).The project, on which construction has begun, involves a 300,000-b/d full conversion refinery that will process Kuwaiti crude and be integrated with a 1-million-t/y ethylene plant. Completion is expected in 2015.
