Celanese Plans Methanol Production At Its Acetyl Complex in Clear Lake

Dallas— Celanese Corp. has announced plans to construct and operate a new methanol production facility at its Clear Lake, Texas, acetyl complex. Pending necessary approvals, Celanese will build a 1.3-million-t/y methanol plant. A significant portion of the methanol, which is expected to come on stream after 1 July 2015, will be used to support the company's current operations. Celanese said it intends to partner with one or more entities for the remainder of the production.
