Celanese Announces Plans to Expand Methanol Production at Clear Lake

Clear Lake-Celanese said it plans to "significantly" increase methanol production capacity at its Clear Lake acetyl intermediates manufacturing facility in Pasadena, Texas. The second phase expansion, which has already received board of directors' approval from Fairway Methanol, a 50-50 joint venture of Celanese and Mitsui & Co., will increase production capacity to 1.7-million t/y from 1.3-million t/y currently.
