Mancos Shale Resource Estimate Rises

The US Geological Survey (USGS) has dramatically increased its estimate of the amount of natural gas held in the Mancos Shale formation of western Colorado. However, given the vast amounts of gas found in shale plays in other areas of US, the news is unlikely to trigger a drilling boom in the region. The USGS now estimates that the Mancos Shale holds 66 Tcf of undiscovered, technically recoverable shale gas resources.
