BP Puts Norway Assets Into 'Super- Independent'

BP and Norway-focused Det Norske announced Friday they were joining forces to create what they said would be the largest independent Norwegian oil and gas producer. The new company, which is to be known as Aker BP and listed on the Oslo stock exchange, will pool the Norwegian assets of BP Norge and Det Norske. The biggest stakeholder will be Oslo-based services firm Aker, which owns 49.9% of Det Norske, on an initial 40%. Other Det Norske shareholders will own 30%, as will BP, which will receive a cash payment of $140 million plus positive working capital adjustments as part of the deal.
