Biofuel Groups Challenge Reduced Blending Targets

Pro-ethanol trade groups have filed a lawsuit challenging the Obama administration's recent decision to lower the mandated volumes of biofuels that must be blended with conventional petroleum transportation fuels in 2014-16. The seven groups argue that the numbers set by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in late November violate the statutory requirements laid out in the Clean Air Act by setting lower targets. They filed their complaint Friday in the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.
