Front - month Brent crude futures fell to their lowest close since July 2004 on Tuesday, but more remarkable was the fact that they closed 3¢ below the prompt US crude contract. It was the first time since August 2010 that Brent has closed at a discount to Nymex WTI crude futures. Brent -- the main price benchmark for the global oil industry -- started to lose ground against the US benchmark WTI (West Texas Intermediate) a week or two ago.
