Falling short of government targets, India’s crude oil and natural gas production continued to decline in January, resulting in higher imports and a widening trade deficit. Crude oil production in January fell 0.2% year-on-year to 3.17 million tons, or 748,390 b/d, according to data released by the federal oil ministry -- well short of the government’s goal of producing 817,200 b/d.
