EU leaders meeting in Brussels on Friday said Muammar Qaddafi should quit, as forces loyal to the Libyan leader continued to hammer positions in the east by land, sea and air. The 27-member bloc on Friday formally imposed new sanctions on senior Libyan officials and entities, freezing the assets of the Libyan Investment Authority (LIA), the country’s sovereign wealth fund, and the central bank, plus three other financial entities.
