Peter Munk leaves Barrick Gold

Three decades after turning a privately held oil and gas operation into what would eventually become the world's largest gold miner by production, Peter Munk is set to step down as chairman of Barrick Gold Corp. Barrick cited 86-year-old Munk's "desire to retire" in an amended regulatory statement to the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and said it planned to have a successor in place at next year's annual meeting.
