FRESH from its defence of an uninvited approach from Xstrata plc, Anglo American plc has streamlined its executive structure and added assets to its non-core portfolio. The company is removing a layer of management, which will save an annual 120 million US dollas. High profile departures include 30-year stalwart Philip Baum, who headed Anglo Ferrous, and Ian Cockerill, the former chief executive officer of Gold Fields International Ltd who was hired as chief executive of Anglo Coal in 2008.
