Zinc miners and smelters leave AZA table empty-handed

Miners and smelters remained far apart in annual treatment charge negotiations as the American Zinc Association (AZA) International Zinc Conference drew to a close Tuesday afternoon in Arizona. One longtime analyst speaking on the sidelines of the conference said he had yet to hear of a deal being concluded. The miners and smelters are thought to have agreed on a basis price of 2,500 dollars per tonne, down from 3,000 dollars per tonne in 2007.
