PITTSBURGH - There is little Alcan can do to prepare for a possible strike at Alcoa plants at the end of this month because most of the company's assets are already running at capacity. "There's probably not a lot we can do to respond. We're pretty much at capacity," Richard Evans, Alcan president and ceo, said during a conference call on May 2. "There's no idled capacity in primary or bauxite and alumina. On the fabricated side, there could be some very small amounts [of spare capacity]."
