VILLARES METALS TO BOOST CAPACITY WITH NEW MILL

Brazilian special, high speed and tool steel producer Villares Metals, part of the Bohler Uddeholm group, plans to bring on stream a new rolling mill at its Sumare, Sao Paulo state works in October. The new 50 million euros mill will initially have capacity of 42,000 tpy of long products, company president Franz Struzl told journalists on March 8. The mill, supplied by VAI, will replace a 30,000 tpy mill at the company's former site in Sorocaba, Sao Paulo, which will be scrapped or sold, possibly to the Gerdau group.
