Mt Newman boosts BHP Billiton iron ore output

SYDNEY - Iron ore production attributable to BHP Billiton in the March quarter rose 8 percent from a year ago, but fell 5 percent from the December quarter.The decline from the December quarter was due to lower demand from Asia, prompted by seasonal issues, the company said. However, output in Western Australia was 11 percent above year-earlier levels because of higher tonnages from Mt Newman.
