Manufacturing costs in the copper fabricating sector are driven by the integration of casting and rolling, said Burghard Knolle, ceo of Lamitref Industries at MB's 15th International Copper Conference in Florence on February 14.Lamitref in addition to operating continuous casting of anode and rod, now operates a continuous caster known as the Conti-M for producing copper and copper alloy strip This, said Knolle, is the world s first continuous high performance strip caster for copper, and significantly reduces the time and cost involved in producing strip. The 1.25-metre-wide casting and rolling line is located at the company's MKM-Hettstedt plant in Germany.
