Salt industry challenges U.S. position on Codex limit for sodium

The salt industry last week challenged a draft U.S. position on an upper level for sodium intake for consideration by the Codex Committee on Nutrition and Foods for Special Dietary Uses, when the CCNFSDU meets, Nov. 14-18, in Bad Soden am Taunus, Germany.While voluntary in nature, the proposed Codex sodium intake limit could become the gold standard for nutrition labeling of food products worldwide.
