USDA deregulates Monsanto's heart-healthy soybean trait

Monsanto's Vistive Gold soybeans (MON 87705), which produce heart-healthy soybean oil with less saturated fat and zero trans fat than conventional oils, have been deregulated for field testing and seed production, USDA announced in the Dec. 16 Federal Register.Biotech proponents have been challenged to offer product breakthroughs that they predicted would benefit human health. Now, at last, Monsanto is moving forward with one.
