Philippines: Increased DAP/NP imports from China

The Philippines imported 368,000 mt DAP/NPK/NP between January and November 2015, a 23% increase on the same period a year earlier, due partly to the closure of Philphos operations. DAP imports rose to 102,000 mt DAP over the same period, almost double the 54,000 mt imported in the same period in 2014, according to GTIS data. The vast majority of the DAP came from Chinese producers. The country also imported 158,000 mt NPKs during the first eleven months of 2015, a decline of 8% from 171,000 mt previously. Of this volume, 48,000 mt NPKs were shipped from producers in Vietnam, 31,000 mt from Yara and 27,000 mt from Namhae.
