USA: Urea output, sales increase on CF expansion

US urea output and producers' sales increased during much of calendar Q1, reflecting new production throughout the quarter from CF Industries' new Donaldsonville, Louisiana production. According to the latest data from the The Fertilizer Institute covering Q3 of the US fertilizer year, urea output was 313,000 st in January, 292,000 st in February and 320,000 st in March. This brought calendar Q1 output to 925,000 st. The Q1 total lifted US urea production for the first nine months of the US fertilizer year through March to 2.37 million st (2.15 million mt), an increase of 22% over the prior year period.
