USA: Q1 UAN output, shipments reflect prior year

US UAN output and producers' sales in Q1 were roughly in line with prior year data, even with the addition of the first 80,000 st of UAN production from CF Industries' new unit at Donaldsonville, Louisiana. According to data from the The Fertilizer Institute, UAN output (28% equivalent) was 1.04 million st in January, 828,000 st in February and 1.05 million st in March. This brought calendar Q1 output to 2.92 million st. The Q1 total lifted US production for the first nine months of the US fertilizer year through March to 8.47 million st (7.68 million mt) of 28% N UAN, even with the prior year period.
