Mosaic one step away from new phosphate mine permit

Mosaic has won the approval of a local review board in Florida for a new mine adjacent to one of its existing phosphate rock extraction operations. The Manatee County Commission still must approve the company's application for land use permits to mine about 3,600 acres of ground in Manatee County. That vote is scheduled for September 15. According to multiple local media reports, the Manatee County Planning Commission voted 5-1 August 18 to support Mosaic's request to develop the ground, best known as Wingate East locally.
