US Midwest: Importers strike first with UAN program

With CF Industries promising customers UAN summer pricing would be released next week, importers struck first this week with sales $10-20/st below expected plans by the North American nitrogen giant. According to distributors participating in the offer and some informed of these quotes from their retail customers, sales of UAN-32 have been completed at $167-177/st FOB ($5.22-5.33/unit) from terminals along the upper Mississippi and Illinois rivers, and also on a delivered basis to inland positions. By comparison late season spot sales were made at about $6.40/unit FOB. Some of the new sales will load on a prompt basis, but most are expected to be filled in coming weeks.
