Weak demand continued to keep sulphuric acid prices across the globe at relatively low levels despite tight prompt availability from most sources. Meanwhile, expectations for later in the year remain bearish. Prices for Asian exports were still pegged at-$15-5/mt FOB Japan/South Korea for spot and contract. Many sources noted that they were having trouble securing prompt spot tonnes, and some large smelters noted that they were fully committed for Q2 with no marginal availability. The Indian spot market remained quiet, as requirements were low and buyers expected prices in the single digits CFR, while sellers had little need to sell at such levels while availability was not long and Chinese business offered better netbacks.
