Across the Nutrients: Phosacid players may struggle in argument for higher prices

Some phosphate players have argued for higher prices as a result of elevated ammonia and sulphur rates. Sulphur prices did not decline in Q3 and Q4 2014 as they had over the same period the previous year. Between early July and mid- November 2013, the Middle East FOB midpoint fluctuated between $60/mt and $75/mt FOB. But the lowest weekly average for the same price point through Q3 and Q4 2014 was $125/mt FOB. In addition, sulphur prices have climbed rapidly over the past two months, with this week’s average at $172/mt FOB Middle East.
