Nafta Moskva eyes controlling stake in Belaruskali

SPECULATION THAT a deal could be struck between Belarus potash company Belaruskali and Russia's Nafta Moskva, the investment vehicle of Russian billionaire Suleiman Kerimov who also owns a stake in OJSC Uralkali, gathered pace early this week, with Russian business daily Vedomosti, quoting sources close to the talks, reporting the two parties were nearing a deal. On June 10, however, Vedomosti reported Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko and Kerimov still have sharply different valuations for the potash mining company.
