Prices rise in US and FSU as market remains tight

Prices pushed higher again this week on the back of firm demand and continuing supply glitches. Declining urea prices and expectations that the ammonia rally would run out of steam have had little impact so far. The US Tampa price for April was settled this week at $555/mt CFR, up $10/mt on March, following increases during the last month in the Black Sea and the Middle East. With the Black Sea at $495/mt FOB, the Yuzhnyy-Tampa price difference is $60/mt, compared with freight on the route of $65-75/mt. Exports from Trinidad, the source of most US ammonia imports, are expected to increase in coming weeks after gas supplies to all producers were partly restored during the last week.
