Mergers : Agrium reaches definitive agreement to acquire AWB

CANADIAN FERTILIZER company Agrium Inc. announced late Thursday that it has entered into a definitive agreement with AWB Limited to acquire all the shares of the Australian company at a price of A$1.50 (US$ 1.34) per share, in cash, pushing out a competing bidder. The Agrium-AWB deal is worth A$1.237 billion (US$1.11 billion).
