So we can use this opportunity to better describe our method for the visualization of midline shift by echography in patients with decompressive craniectomy. According to the guidelines of Brain Trauma Foundation and American Association of Neurological Surgeons (2), midline shift on computed tomography (CT) scan is described as the degree of displacement of the septum pellucidum relative to the midline. Furthermore, midline is determined by averaging the distance between the inner tables of the skull.
