Statoil hits Oseberg Sor pay dirt

Statoil has encountered oil and gas with exploration wells 30/11-14 and 30/11-14 B using the Songa Delta rig in the Norwegian North Sea. The wells were drilled around 6km southeast of the 30/11-8 S (Krafla) discovery and 25km southwest of the Oseberg Sar facility in the Norwegian North Sea. "The primary exploration target for wells 30/11-14 and 30/11-14 B was to prove petroleum in Middle Jurassic reservoir rocks (the Tarbert formation) in two nearby fault blocks. The secondary exploration target was to prove petroleum in the Ness formation in the Middle Jurassic," said the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD).
