Saudi Manifa start-up

State-owned Saudi Aramco has started producing at its Manifa giant heavy oil field in the Middle East Gulf, where Phase 1 production is forecast to reach 500,000 b/d by July. The development includes rigs on 27 man-made production islands inter-linked by 41km of causeways with elevated bridges designed to maintain natural water flow in the Manifa Bay and preserve marine nurseries.
