Statoil is set to shut down the Glitne field in the Sleipner area of the North Sea. When it came onstream in 2001, the intention was for it to produce for just 26 months. Twelve years later its final drops of oi l are being extracted and it has now been decided to close the field. Glitne is the story of how important various measures are for extending the lifetime of a field several times over.
