Barents Eik comes up dry

The Norwegian Energy Co (Noreco) said today that its 7228/1-1 exploration well on the Eik prospect in the Barents Sea has come up dry. The preliminary drilling results indicate that the well does not contain commercial quantities of hydrocarbons. The well is located in Production Licence 396 (PL 396) in the Barents Sea around 200km northeast of North Cape and is being drilled by the Transocean Barents drilling rig.
