EIA Lowers US Oil Production Forecast

US government forecasters once again lowered their projections for domestic crude oil output over the next two years as low oil prices continue to dampen drilling activity in US shale plays. In its latest monthly Short-Term Energy Outlook, the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) lowered its forecast of US crude oil production for 2016 by 70,000 barrels per day to 8.6 million b/d, and its 2017 forecast by 150,000 b/d to 8.04 million b/d.
