Sonatrach Trial to Start in June

The criminal court in Algiers will start the "Sonatrach 1" trial on Jun. 7 after a five-year delay that will see former CEO Mohamed Meziane take the stand (IOD Jan.15'10). 19 people, including Meziane, face corruption charges, including inflating contract prices and money laundering. The former Sonatrach head was placed under judicial investigation in 2009. Meziane's two sons are also defendants. The charges involve five contracts with Germany's Contel Funkwerk.
