Myanmar Supplies 3 Bcm of Gas to China

The Myanmar-China natural gas pipeline has supplied a total of 3 Bcm of gas to China since starting up last July, China National Petroleum Corp. (CNPC) said Thursday (IOD Aug.2'13). That equates to around 226 MMcf/d of gas, or less than half the pipeline's first phase 500 Mmcf/d capacity. Industry sources attribute the slow ramp-up to production problems at Myanmar's offshore Shwe field, which supplies the pipeline, after operator South Korea's Daewoo International was forced to modify the processing facilities. Daewoo is set to boost output at the field to 500 MMcf/d by the end of 2014 (IOD Jan.15'14).
